Cocktails

It's always summer when you have a cocktail in your hand.... or two. Read below for two cocktail recipes.

Watching Sex and the City growing up I became fascinated with cocktails, but I find ordering them daunting. I don't know mixology, all I know is I like tequila, sweet and sour, but not too sweet, and I hate martini glasses. My experience with mixology goes as follows, high school: whatever my parents had in the cabinet mixed with water, Gatorade, milk (saw it in a movie once, check it out). College: vodka and Crystal Light, no not lemonade, the actual powder mixed with vodka. How I'm still alive? The world may never know. Present day, I currently order the same drink: "what do you suggest?"

Turns out, when you get talking with a bartender about your likes and dislikes, "What do you suggest?" is the best drink on the menu, which is why I'm so excited I'm partnering with Terra in Eataly Boston. I've been coming here for a while because it's some of the best drinks in town. It's like the farm to the bartender there; everything tastes amazingly fresh, and they all know what they're doing.

Terra's Bar Manager, Gregg, has two tasty cocktails that they serve right here, but now he's sharing his secrets with you for your next summer soiree.

First Cocktail (for the more savory tastebuds): Rhubarb Paloma

  • 1.5 oz Espolon Blanco Tequila
  • 1/2 oz Cappelletti Sfumato (don't worry, this is sold right at Eataly)
  • 1 oz Grapefruit Juice
  • 1/2 oz Lime Juice
  • 1/2 oz Agave Syrup
  • club soda

Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice, shake it, strain into a collins glass over ice. Top with club soda, garnish with a grapefruit slice.

Second Cocktail (for the sweet tooth): Aperol Daquerie

  • 1.5 oz Terra Summer Blend (which is strawberries soaked in silver rum, pineapple rum, white rum, then remove the strawberries)
  • 3/4 oz Aperol
  • 3/4 oz Lime Juice
  • 1/2 oz Toasted Coconut syrup (2 cups shredded coconut baked in the oven at 350º for 15-20 min, mix coconut with 2 cups sugar and 2 cups water, stir and dissolve, let sit overnight)

Combine all ingredients into a shaker tin, fill with ice, and shake. Strain into your favorite cocktail glass

All ingredients can be bought right at Eataly
