Winter Coast

This past weekend, my family had a small little reunion; celebrating my Great Uncle’s 80th birthday. It was a blast. We all stayed at the Atlantic Oceanside in Bar Harbor, ME (way up north), and basically took up an entire hallway of rooms. It was so much fun, and filled with such love (I know cheesy).

What I couldn’t get over were the stars: the Milky Way was so clear and vibrant. I love outer space, astronomy is one of my little pleasures (and astrology is definitely a huge guilty pleasure). Because Bar Harbor wasn’t cold enough for me, and now I’ve had a taste of a beautiful night sky, I just planned a trip to go to Iceland next month. I’m hoping to see the Northern Lights. I’m pretty sure my obsession began with the Auora Borealis after seeing Balto as a kid.

I’m doing Iceland solo, and I’m excited and nervous. I’ve never done a true “solo” trip. The closest I’ve come is Israel, but it was on a program, and I knew I was going to make friends. I can’t wait to share more details. Right now the 3 main things I want to do are: See the Northern Lights, Hike along the Golden Circle, and see an ice cave. I’m still unsure about the Blue Lagoon. I’ve heard a lot of mixed reviews, and I feel as an influencer, there’s pressure to get that instagram photo, but to be honest, I’d rather go hiking. Also, I feel that’s more to relax with someone, but I think it would be just me sitting there looking to my left and right and seeing friends and couples and just wanting to leave. If I’m in a comfortable setting, I’m very much an extrovert, but the second I’m in a new environment, I become this super awkward introvert, fighting with my introversion tendencies, and then it’s just a hot mess for everyone involved.

Have you ever done a solo trip? Been to Iceland? Tips? TELL ME!

Great thing about short hair: I can show off back details more now!
