First outfit of the new year: Sexy and Classy. You can’t ever go wrong with black and camel, with just a hint of leopard—Oh and these metallic leggings that are ON SALE!
The new year gives me time to reflect on the past 365 days, what I liked about myself, how have I progressed, and what do I want to achieve in the coming year. I love/hate new years resolutions; I more so just want to keep being a better me, and just check myself throughout the year. So without further ado, my new year goals:
Read more! Last year I think I read around 6 books. 1 book took me, I kid you not, half the year. I hated it: A Little Life. I found it so depressing to the point that the main character’s depression became monotonous. It was like all the author thought of every nefarious act and compiled it upon one person. I became indifferent and desired a suicidal ending. So yes, not for a light beach read. It took forever, but I finished it. One of my close childhood friends does amazing book reviews on Instagram, and you should follow her here: @MauveAndRoskySky. This year she read 108 books, and she’s one of my role models. My goal this year is to read 12 books, doubling last year’s.
Stay fit! I don’t want to workout and drop off. I’m really happy with my current weight, and I feel quite healthy. I’m not working out a crazy ton or dieting, I’m just eating better and exercising consistently once a week. I’ve had a lot of health obstacles in the past and my main goal is to just take care of my body.
Travel more / hike more. I want to see more of the world and hike it. I had so much fun in Iceland hiking everywhere, and It was a great experience to not just sight-see, but to experience the land. Looking back over the last 10 years of my life, I realized how much I’ve worked, and how little I’ve allowed myself to enjoy. In college at one point I had 4 paying jobs, and an internship, and over the last 5 years I’ve had my main job, a part-time gig, plus the blog (which is really more of a hobby). I haven’t really given myself a break. I feel somewhat guilty when I take vacations, as though I’m being wasteful with my time. So this year, and hopefully many more, I travel more. I still haven’t seen the Northern Lights, and that’s on my list.
Write again. Before I became the trendy graphic designer you all know me as, I use to write children’s stories. It’s what I originally went to school for. I have one idea fleshed out, and my goal was to get a rough draft of it out before Christmas, but fail. I really want to push myself and do this. Not for publication or anything, but for me. I love writing and illustrating little stories, I get such a sense of pride in sharing them with friends.
